I
have
always had an interest in British cars. When I was a child, my father had a
Wolseley Hornet and Rover P6 and my first car was an Austin Allegro! Then,
during the 1990s, I owned a Rover 216 GSi and a 420 GSi Tourer, both of which
were fantastic. When MG Rover expanded the MG range in 2001, I fell in love with
the MG ZS and, in particular, the 180 variant with its silky smooth V6. I bought
my first, ‘Y’ registered, ZS 180 saloon in 2002. This Trophy Yellow car was a
real head-turner. I enjoyed owning the car so much that I decided to buy another
one, this time brand new. In October 2003 I took delivery of my second ZS 180
saloon, this time in XPower Grey, complete with rear electric windows and
parking sensors. Again the car was faultless and I was really happy with ‘her’
but then MGR launched the Mk2 ZS in mid 2004! |

I
took delivery of ‘KITT’ (yes, I know!) in November 2004 and, like ‘her’
predecessors, was my every day car. Again the car was brilliant and being the
Mk2 ‘facelift’ (with full body kit complete with ‘shark’ vents in the wings)
even more stunning. Following the sad demise of MGR in April 2005, I decided to
retire her from everyday use and opted for a company car. This has allowed me to
make some performance modifications to her. The first change was to the exhaust
system. As I wanted to keep her as original as possible, I decided only to use
only the official MG XPower aftermarket modifications. So I opted for the XPower
twin outlet (duplex) stainless steel exhaust system manufactured by Janspeed.
Next on my list was the induction system. Again, I opted for official XPower
mod. Here I have the ITG Maxogen system that draws cool dense air from the inner
wing. Both of these modifications have not only boosted the already excellent
performance but also given the car its distinctive look and growl. Next on my
list… |
