As a family we have always had a keen interest in cars and I love
the thrill of going fast and hearing a roaring exhaust.
Ever since I can remember I used to be outside come rain or shine
with my dad when he used to fix his cars. I remember fixing a BMW alternator
with him in the rain – a memory I will never forget.
Dad ALWAYS used to, and still does, talk about his old MGB from
the 60s. It was tartan red in colour, black leather interior and had wire
wheels. When we saw that MG had made the ‘F both dad and I said we’d get one
some day.
So here the story begins ...
When I was 21, travelling in the USA, I missed my mum and dad’s
23rd wedding anniversary. So, being the doting daughter I am I emailed them.
They replied the next day and sent some pictures… Uh Oh! This is where I noticed
a beautiful Tahiti Blue 'F on the drive. I got straight on the phone home to my
parents to ensure that the car I had seen wasn’t my mums. But, it was… and I
cried! I was gutted that I didn’t have one and that I wasn’t the first to have
got one.
After returning from my travels and settling into a new job I
decided to have a look around for an 'F of my own and It had to be better and
faster than my mum’s. I looked on the internet and found purple 'Fs, red 'Fs and
a charcoal VVC 'F. I got my parents and dragged them over to the garage to see
it. It was in the window and I knew instantly that I wanted it. It was all shiny
with red half leather interior, Daytona exhaust and hardtop. I took it for a
test drive and drove to the cash-point to withdraw my deposit.
And that’s it... that baby was mine! |
